Unreasonable Fears
When Louise was a little girl visiting her German grandmother in a Brooklyn flat circa 1928, she saw the Quaker Oats man for the first time on a carton of cereal and ran screaming in terror through the apartment, scrambling for her life. She is also uneasy around raisins, buttons, and pasta fashioned into bows or curls or other unnatural shapes.
