Reincarnation: What About the Cow?

Another piece exploring the thorny issue of ontology and cows. This assemblage started with a wood toy, which I'm guessing was originally a marble maze, handcrafted by some Eagle scout and his dad a long time ago. I scored it at the flea market for a few bucks and then started playing with Sculpey, churning out little humanoids. Brand new souls enter from above, drop down into the maze, struggle their way through, catch their breath, and then have to climb up the ladder and do the whole damn thing all over again. And the cow? Who knows?

What About the Cow Dress

This could just as easily be called "The Farmer in the Dell" dress. The basic dress was handstitched using a simple bandanna dress concept (Google "bandanna dress" and you'll find loads of online instructions for this simple concept). Click on this link to see other "What About the Cow" creations, which essentially tackle a religious quandry that is largely absent from this particular project.

Three pockets were added to the front of the dress. Animal images were printed onto fabric transfer paper and used to make little stuffed pillows. The pillows are attached to ribbon, and the end of the ribbons are sewn securely into the bottom of the pockets.

Another attempt to wrestle with the thorny ontological issue: What about the cow? Either you've worried about this yourself or your haven't.

What About the Cow?

One of a series of works on the theme, "What About the Cow?" The rationale involves ontological conversations that took place over a decade or so. The resulting little end table is utterly impractical from every angle.
