Back before Homeland Security took over and the Constitution was effectively suspended, I used to spend a lot of time wandering along railroad tracks in post-industrial wastelands. Last time I tried that, four police cars showed up, thinking I was a terrorist. This is one of the finds from those walks. A rusted spike is permanently stuck into a rusted rectangle and the result is delightful—a self-referential frame in which the piece frames itself. I love rust.

Wow, that is gorgeous. I used to find interesting stuff along the Caltrain tracks, but they're all fenced off now due to recent teen suicides. In fact, when I first moved here I was surprised people could just walk right up to the tracks. But they can't anymore. Although for those determined, there are ways.
