Floating Stitches

This is little more than evidence of itchy fingers at work, but I like the end effect. As noted in an earlier post, I've grown enchanted with Japanese mending (see Uber Boro), which involves patching textiles to within an inch of their lives using sashiko stitching.

Here, however, nothing is being mended. The stitching is simply "floating" above a basic black sleeveless top. The stitching is not utilitarian, it is pointless, which is perversely pleasing in its own right.
